Do you know that science is not always about a hard formulas? In the other hands, science can be fun for kids if you know how to present it. Moreover, teaching the kids science from their young age can train their left brain. Nobody knows if someone will be a future scientist right? That is why it is actually important to play with science activities for children.
There are actually many choices for science activities we can do with children. Moreover, those activities can be held safely at home, using ingredients that is available at home. For example, we can make an elephant toothpaste by using some hydrogen peroxide and soap. Another surely interesting idea is to use some plastic, pencil and water to show the kids some science magic.
Since they are still young, it is time to show them that science is not always boring. It can be as fun as when they are playing with their toys.
The Leak-proof Bag
To do this experiment, you will need some pencils, water, and a zip-lock plastic. Firstly, fill the plastic with water until it is half-full. Secondly, sharpen the pencil so that it can pierce through the plastics. After that, you might just stab the plastic with the sharp pencil.
Make sure to use a zip-lock plastic, since they are made of polyethylene which cause it leak-proof when being stabbed by many pencils. Zip-lock plastik has a good flexibility that makes this experiment possible.
The Elephant Toothpaste
First be careful when you want to do this experiment. Even though the elephant toothpaste looks so soft and fluffy, be sure not to touch it since it can irritate both of eyes and skin.
To do this one of the great science activities, you will need the equipment below :
- Any plastic bottle you have at home
- Food coloring
- 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
- 20% volume hydrogen peroxide liquid
- Washing soap
After you find all the ingredients, then it is time to have fun. Firstly, add 8 drops of food coloring to the plastic bottle, and then 1 tbs of washing soap. Mix them a little bit for a homogeneous color later. After that, mix some water with the dry yeast, then put it into the bottle. Lastly, add a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide to start the elephant toothpaste.
